God’s part and my Part

God has already provided everything we need for life and godliness through Christ, but we have a responsibility to respond through obedience and walking on God’s promises to access all his provisions.

Text: Philippians 2:12–13 – “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
• God works in → His part.
• We work out → Our part.
Let us look at God’s provision and what we should do as believers.

  1. The promise of a savior.
    God’s Part:
    a. He gave His Son for our redemption (John 3:16).
    b. He provided grace through the cross (Ephesians 2:8–9).

What is Our Part:
– Believe and confess Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9–10).
– Repent from sin and turn to God (Acts 3:19).

  1. Forgiveness of Sin
    • God’s Part:
    He provided forgiveness through the blood of Jesus (Ephesians 1:7).
    • Our Part:
    • Confess our sins (1 John 1:9)
    • Forsake sin and walk in obedience (Proverbs 28:13)
  2. Victory over Sin and Satan
    • God’s Part:
    • Jesus destroyed the works of the devil (1 John 3:8).
    • He gave us authority in His name (Luke 10:19). Colossians 2:14,15
    • Our Part:
    • Resist the devil (James 4:7).
    • Put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10–11).
  3. Growth and Transformation
    •God’s Part:
    • He gave us the Holy Spirit as Teacher and Helper (John 14:26).
    • He has given us His Word for instruction (2 Timothy 3:16).
    •Our Part:
    • Study and meditate on the Word (Joshua 1:8).
    • Pray and seek God’s presence (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
    • Renew our minds daily (Romans 12:2).
  4. Provision and Blessing
    • God’s Part:
    • He promised to supply all our needs (Philippians 4:19).
    • He has given us power to get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18).
      • Our Part:
    • Work diligently (Proverbs 10:4).
    • Give (Luke 6:38; 2 Corinthians 9:6–7).
    • Walk in contentment and stewardship (1 Tim. 6:6–7).
  5. Holiness and Sanctification
    • God’s Part:
    • He has sanctified us through Christ (Hebrews 10:10).
    • His Spirit empowers us to live holy (Romans 8:13–14).
      • Our Part:
    • Purify ourselves (2 Corinthians 7:1).
    • Flee sin and pursue righteousness (2 Timothy 2:22).
  6. Eternal Security and Reward
    • God’s Part:
    • He has promised eternal life (John 10:28).
    • He is faithful to keep us (Jude 24).
      • Our Part:
    • Endure to the end (Matthew 24:13).
    • Be faithful stewards (1 Corinthians 4:2).
    • Keep ourselves in the love of God (Jude 21).

God has already done the finished work of grace in Christ. All of us as believer must respond in faith, obedience, and discipline. Misunderstanding leads either to spiritual laziness (expecting God to do everything) or self-righteous striving (ignoring God’s power). The right balance is to depend on God’s grace while actively walking in obedience.
